Week of open choirs in the Maifeld invites you to join in

Whether pop, folk or church music - the choirs in the Maifeld offer musical diversity for every age group. Under the motto "Just try it out!", numerous choirs in the Maifeld open their doors and rehearsal rooms to interested parties during Open Choir Week - whether experienced singers or curious newcomers.

From April 7 to 11, visitors will have the opportunity to take part in rehearsals without any obligation, get to know singers and discover the joy of singing together. In a relaxed atmosphere, the choirs from the Maifeld show how much fun music can be in a community - and that it is never too late to become part of a choir.

"Our choirs in particular create something very special: many voices become one. What could be better than singing in a choir in the Maifeld?" says Hans-Willi Fell from the Mayen District Choir Association. "With the Week of Open Choirs, we want to lower the inhibition threshold and invite people to simply try out how wonderful singing can be. Open the doors, turn on your voices, just sing along!"

Our voice is the most personal instrument we possess and accompanies us throughout our lives. That's why the voice was named Instrument of the Year 2025 by the German Music Councils. "The voice is our very own instrument - unique, changeable and full of expressive power," says Maximilian Mumm, Mayor of the Maifeld municipality: "With the Week of Open Choirs in the Maifeld, we want to show that our choirs are places of encounter and well-being. Nobody has to audition, nobody has to sing perfectly. Anyone who wants to is welcome!
Participating choirs come from all over the Maifeld and beyond. The choirs demonstrate their broad repertoire and openness in this joint event organized by the Mayen District Choir Association and the Maifeld Association of Municipalities.
